John received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University, where he graduated as the College of Sociology valedictorian. He is an Affiliate Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and holds a Certificate in Trust and Estate Administration with Distinction. He is also a member of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association.

Outside the office, John enjoys reading, singing, hiking, and writing short stories about everyday life and how people find their way through hardship.
